There isn’t a unique way to learn the handstand. Everyone who’s trying will face their individual issues and problems. Some will have trouble with their strength, others won’t be able to achieve balance.

1. First, test your strength
The first thing toward achieving a handstand is to see how strong you are, and are you capable of maintaining this posture for some time? You need to get down on all four and keep them that way. Just like a pup or a cat.
You think this is easy, but it’s not. Stay like that for a couple of minutes. If you don’t see your muscles tremble, you’re ready.
2. Push with your legs to get up
When you have your hands and legs down on the ground, it’s time to get only your legs up in the air. Push with your legs only. Do it moderately. Don’t do it too strong so you don’t find yourself on your head on the other side of the room.
3. Start with wall support at first
When you push yourself off, it’s best to find support in the wall. Make sure your body forms a line. Leaning on the wall will take some of the load off your hands. This is excellent for the beginning because it will not be easy to hold your entire bodyweight right away.
Feel free to rest there. Keep your strength and only continue with the rest of the exercise when you’re ready. When you become an expert, you will not need the wall. For now, however, the wall is your best friend to learn how far you’ve gotten and to practice the balance.

4. Continue balancing
The hardest part of the handstand is achieving balance. The muscles in your arms might be perfect from the very start, but the balance must be taught. Think about this as if you were a newborn. You can’t learn to walk right after you’re born. You need to learn how to toddle first. Then you’ll keep falling until you grow up to be confident and do it easy.
Since you’re probably a grown-up, your brain already knows the difference between up and down, but it doesn’t know that gravity can’t be handled the same way when you’re standing on your hands and your feet. That’s why you need to fall a couple of times until your brain realizes how to maintain a perfect balance while you’re standing on your hands.
5. Start breathing and enjoy the handstand
Once you learn how to keep the balance, and you have enough strength to stay like that for a long time, it’s time to start breathing normally. You’ll notice that during the tries, you’re withholding your breath. It’s impossible to keep your muscles tightened and breathe normally.
Once you’re standing normally, you can try to breathe normally again too. When you do it, you can start meditating, or just count how long can you be in this position. This is a great physical exercise, so be sure that you’re exercising both your body and mind.
